imvu also allows users to generate their own skeleton animation sets by animating their model to create skeletons. there are several ways to do this, including using the copy pose function within the 3d viewport.
the imvu mesh edit bones window can be used to link the imvu mesh to the skeleton. the imvu tab on the left side of the window can be used to select the skeleton of the imvu avatar or the default animation skeleton defined in im_a_anim.dat if using a private avatar.
the to bones button on the right side of the window can be used to link the imvu mesh to the skeleton. when the to bones button is active it toggles between linking the avatars skeleton to the imvu mesh and linking the imvu mesh to the avatars skeleton.
the editing mode in the mesh menu offers in addition to the per-object way of editing the of meshes, the ability to perform vertex group changes in real time for all vertex groups, is the ability to perform component changes in real time for vertex groups and selection changes in real time for the main mesh (and vertex groups).
to allow editing the vertex groups, selecting vertex groups while in edit mode will open the vertex groups adjustment box. this adjusts (in real time) all sub-selections for vertex groups on the main mesh, as well as in the vertex groups that have been created. all other sub-selections are unaffected.
